Library Square Condominiums was the first condo project built from the ground up by the Community Development Corporation of Utah. Construction began, on the $3.5 million project, in 2003 and was completed by 2004. The building was part of Salt Lake City’s revitalization plan for downtown housing. City officials wanted nearby housing that supported the new Salt Lake City Public Library, the Leonardo, and the public events that take place on Library Square. The building is mixed-use, with several two-story live/work condos on the first two floors along its front and east sides. Residential condos fill the majority of the second floor and the entire third and fourth floors. Large, private balconies, outside entrances, and garage parking have made Library Square a popular place among Salt Lake urbanites. Typical finishes include black granite countertops, maple cabinets, vinyl flooring, and solid wood windows and doors. Most condos in the building have terrific views of Library Square, the city, and the mountains. There is a large, common rooftop patio available for all residents. Of the 29 total units, 28 have reserved parking and private storage in the garage. Plenty of on-street parking is available on 500 South for guests.
